Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Based Damping Improvement using Static Synchronous Series Compensators

چکیده

This paper presents a novel development of neuro-fuzzy coordination between Static synchronous series compensators (SSSC) to damp the oscillations in a multi-machine power system. The oscillations in power systems have to be taken a serious note of when the fault occurs in any part of the system, else this might lead to the instability mode and shutting down of the power system. The SSSC based power oscillation damping (POD) controllers can be used to suppress the oscillations upon occurrence of a fault at the generator side or near the bus side. In order to improve the dynamic performance of the multimachine power system, the behavior of the SSSC based POD controllers should be coordinated, otherwise the power system performance might be deteriorated. In order to keep the advantages of the existing POD controller and to improve the SSSC-POD performance, a hybrid neuro-fuzzy coordination based controller is used. This paper depicts about this hybrid combination of neuro-fuzzy with a SSSC and POD control strategy to damp the electromechanical oscillations. Simulations are performed with and without hybrid controller in the event of a major disturbance. The digital simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller presented
